Group Charter

Introduction

This document details the work of the Colchester Group of Advanced Motorists. The success of the group depends on you. You can help by either by attending meetings, suggesting or helping at events or meetings. The purpose of the group is to promote road safety and to prepare Associate members for the Advanced Driving Test of the Institute of Advanced Motorists. We are a non political group and a registered charity that is run by volunteers.

We will: We expect you to:

 

 

  • provide an environment that allows you to develop by encouraging continuing improvement in driving standards
  • examine how you do things now, giving feedback on what is good, and how the rest could be done better
  • send you accurate information about the group, its activities, procedures, and support services
  • send you a regular Newsletter (called ) containing news, reviews and contact Names and Addresses of Committee Members
  • send you information about the Institute of Advanced Motorists and the Advanced Driving Test
  • ensure that you are put in contact with an Observer who will work with you to assist your development
  • give feedback on your progress
  • organise monthly meetings and social activities appropriate to the members needs to enable the group to develop socially
  • organise outside visit events to promote the groups activities and/or provide a social outlet for the group
  • read the information so that you know what is happening within the group and what is expected of you
  • inform us if your contact details change
  • inform us if you are in any way concerned or unhappy about any aspect of the group
  • drive in a manner, and with an attitude, consistent with that of an Advanced Driver
  • show a commitment towards undertaking the Advanced Driving Test
  • take an active part in the training programmes provided
  • allow yourself adequate time to practice your driving
  • inform your Observer if you are unable to keep an appointment
  • take responsibility for your driving development and advise us if you are having difficulties with your preparation
  • try to support the group and its monthly meetings and take an active part
  • take part in outside events wherever possible
  • encourage other drivers to improve their safety by promoting the group and its activities
  • inform us if you have indicated an intention to attend an event and then cannot attend (if possible)

When you have passed the Advanced Driving Test

You will become a full member of the group and we will offer you an opportunity to become an Observer for the group. We encourage you to remain a member of the group and become further involved in its activities and seek to improve your driving standard even further.

We expect you to:

  • let your observer know you've passed the test
  • drive to the Advanced Driving standard
